When I launched the first version of this website five years ago, I really needed an expert opinion on what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong.
Just a quick gut check.
Does the headline on the Home page make sense?
Is it clear what resume writing services I offer?
Would my customers trust me to help them with their resume?
When you put something out into the world, it’s hard to know exactly how your audience perceives it.
After all, the first rule of marketing is: you are not the customer.
At that time, there were a few companies that offered free resume critiques. (Now there are a ton.)
A developer could submit their website to a company and receive five minutes of video feedback.
With nothing to lose, I submitted my website.
Boy, am I glad I did.
When I watched the video critique, I was shocked by how much stuff I got right and how much stuff I got wrong.
The Home page copy made sense, but the photo didn’t seem to fit.
It was easy to understand what I offer, but it wasn’t clear how to purchase it.
Much of the feedback made perfect sense because I was not the customer.
I didn’t think of all the things my customers would be looking for on my website before they decided to hire me.
Had I not taken advantage of the service, those changes would have never crossed my mind.
Even though the video was only 5 minutes, it changed how I organized the website to serve job seekers.
I was so happy I did it.
I recently thought about that experience and decided to create something similar for you (and anyone you know looking for a job).
Today, I’m excited to launch my professional resume review service.
What’s included in the professional resume review
With this new service, job seekers of any experience level (including high school graduates) can submit their resume to me and receive a quick 5-minute video with my feedback that covers:
Format & Organization
- My first impression of your resume
- The overall length and design of your resume
- Formatting recommendations to highlight key parts of your resume
Content & Keywords
- A quick editorial review that checks for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and readability
- Recommendations for content to add or remove from your resume
- Keyword optimization suggestions to pass applicant tracking systems
Overall Impression & Interview Chances
- What information did you include that helps your chances of getting an interview?
- Would I want to interview based on this resume? Why or why not?
Get a hiring manager’s perspective on your resume
My intention is to give job seekers a second opinion on their resume from the hiring manager’s perspective.
I’ve done extensive research on my resume-writing competitors, and no one else offers this type of review.
This type of service would have been a godsend when I was job searching and getting passed over for interviews.
What exactly were hiring managers and recruiters thinking when they saw my resume?
There was no way to tell.
Now, there is.
That’s why I’m super excited to offer professional resume reviews to anyone and everyone!
How to get your professional resume review
Click here to submit your resume for review. When you submit your resume, you can also tell me what you’re looking for in your next job and where you’re struggling in your job search.
I’ll create a video for you with a ton of ways to improve your resume. You’ll have your video back within three business days.
Simple as that.
There’s nothing to lose here, so be sure to let the job seekers in your life know about this service.
